Amazon FBA is a service from Amazon that allows online sellers to create their store while enjoying the benefits of the e-commerce giant .

For my part, if I had had the budget when I was looking for a job to do from home, I would certainly have tried the experience.

Now, I have found my way and I will not go back, but if you are having difficulty finding the business model that suits you and/or e-commerce appeals to you , I invite you to explore this path. From what I have seen among people who have started with Amazon FBA, their business is (very) profitable.

In this article, you will find everything you need to know to get started with Amazon FBA.

What is Amazon FBA?
Amazon FBA, literally Fulfillment By Amazon in English, is a logistics service offered to professional Amazon sellers .

It’s no secret that Amazon’s logistics are renowned for their performance. Short delivery times, excellent customer service…

Amazon FBA is the opportunity to create your own store by relying on the reputation and expertise of the e-commerce giant . Just that…

No need to spend all your time on logistics, you can focus on your sales and your products, since Amazon employees are responsible for sending your orders, managing returns and also all customer service (answering questions, dissatisfaction, etc.).

To quickly become an Amazon FBA seller and build your online store, I recommend you follow Julien’s training on the subject.

This is the most comprehensive Amazon FBA training you can find on the French-speaking market today.

In his training, Julien details (among other things) all the techniques for creating an online store on Amazon step by step. An invaluable time saving.

Now let’s talk about the pros and cons of Amazon FBA.

Amazon FBA: The Pros and Cons
Personally, I find that Amazon FBA is interesting for people who do not want to show themselves on the internet , to be on social networks and who are more interested in having a business behind the scenes .

As with any online business, there are pros and cons.

The advantages
Here are the benefits of Amazon FBA.

No storage space required : your products are stored in Amazon warehouses
Delivery is handled by Amazon (as well as returns and all customer service) to allow you to focus on your sales (and therefore sell more)
Your products are eligible for Amazon Prime so your customers can enjoy free shipping
Your customers can choose one-day delivery
You benefit from unparalleled visibility : Amazon is the 10th most visited site in the world behind Google (and other search engines), Wikipedia and Facebook. It is the world’s leading e-commerce site . In addition, FBA products benefit from better visibility on Amazon than FBM (fulfilled by merchant) products.
You have the opportunity to sell products throughout Europe (and even worldwide)
This is the fastest way to be profitable by launching an online store (rather than creating an independent e-commerce site, developing its SEO, managing the storage of your products, shipping orders promoting it etc.

The disadvantages
Despite its many advantages, this business model has some drawbacks:

As with affiliate marketing , you can find anything on Amazon and it is important to do your research to find profitable and quality products to sell online.
Personally, I find that it lacks human contact (for others, it’s an advantage but I love interacting with people too much)
You need to invest initially to buy products and create your brand (count €3,000-4,000)
There is a risk of unsold items ( unless you have done a good market study beforehand, and this is precisely what Julien teaches in his training )
You will be in direct competition with other sellers
You will be dependent on Amazon’s sales platform
Your products will be shipped in Amazon colors.
Personally, I don’t use Amazon FBA because I don’t want to sell physical products. I like it less than digital products.

I was able to recommend it to people around me who had the right profile because Amazon FBA is a very profitable business.

It is also a simple business when you compare the working time and the income generated.

But it’s like anything: to get started, it takes a lot of work. You have to educate yourself do research, and fumble around at first But once you get started it’s a business that works very well.

How does Amazon FBA work?
Amazon FBA works as follows:

1. You start by finding products that you want to sell to your customers and you choose in what quantity.

2. You order the merchandise that you have delivered to Amazon’s distribution centers.

3. You put the products on sale.

4. Amazon packs and ships the products to your customers for you.

5. Amazon handles customer returns and after-sales service.

Of course, as a matchmaking platform that makes your life much easier, Amazon FBA charges fees of different types (and it’s good to know which ones before you start):

Access to FBA: €0.99 excluding VAT per item sold or €39 excluding VAT per month (interesting from 40 products sold per month)
Selling Fee : 7-15% per item (varies by product category)
Shipping costs: order management (per order), preparation and packaging costs (per unit), handling costs (per kg)
Storage fees: monthly or pro rata if your products stay less than a month in the warehouse (long-term storage fees may apply). You only pay for the space actually used (volume of your products)
Optional services: labeling, reshipping of stock to the merchant or liquidation of stock (in the case of unsold items in particular).
You will find full details of the fees on the Amazon website .

Additionally, by obtaining official merchant status, Amazon will not restrict you as it does with individual sellers (in terms of volumes).

In addition to registering with the RCS, you will need to create your micro-entrepreneur status to collect your income legally (and pay charges to URSSAF on your sales).

To avoid unsold items and earn a living with your business on Amazon, you will have to learn how to find products .

Step 3: Find the right suppliers
Once you have chosen the products you want to sell on Amazon FBA, you will need to choose the right suppliers .

The goal is to get your products at the best price to give you an interesting margin without compromising on quality.

You can buy directly from Amazon but also from the Chinese platform Alibaba or from Made-in-china .

Step 4: Get the best prices for the products on sale in your store
Once the right suppliers have been found, you need to get the best price to be able to obtain an attractive margin on resale.

The displayed sale price can often be negotiated. Don’t hesitate to do so, especially if you are ordering in large quantities.

You can also put several suppliers in competition by asking for different quotes. If a product seems better to you from one supplier but its price is higher than that of its competitor, do not hesitate to ask them to align.

At worst, the supplier says no. At best, he accepts your proposal. There is no risk in trying to save a little money

Another thing to consider: customs fees and VAT.

Is Amazon FBA Right for You?
Finally, I wanted to draw your attention to one point: this is not dropshipping.

There can be some confusion with this business model because many people use Amazon to do dropshipping.

This is not the case with Amazon FBA.

With dropshipping, you sell products  chine directory that you don’t have. You place an order once your sales have been made. The risks are greater of having very long delivery times and of facing dissatisfied customers… This is a practice that I do not recommend.

With Amazon FBA, you first order products that are stored in Amazon’s warehouses, allowing your customers to receive their order quickly after placing it.
